Whatever else changes about the Nano, the coolest part will always be the simple disc control dial. It remains a small miracle of user-friendy efficiency.
But Apple just keeps stuffing in new features anyway. Start with the built-in video camera (for pete's sakes) and a 2.2-inch video display. Add a built-in microphone and speaker. 8 GB of memory, enough capacity for up to 2000 songs or 8 hours of video. FM Radio with iTunes tagging. Just for laughs, Apple also tosses in a built-in pedometer to track your steps. Finally, there's the new polished anodyzed aluminum finish that makes the Nano look like one of those classy silver gourmet refrigerators, only 800 times smaller.
No icemaker, though. No doubt that's next.
